Moore Musings 9

March 25, 2024

This edition we’re talking UK Garage, lockdown music and headphones for the next wave of DJ’s that will no doubt be emerging as and when we are safe for public gatherings again.

GARAGE IS BACK

Has it ever been away? If you’ve seen me play out in the last 20 years you know the answer to that!

UK Garage royalty Jeremy Sylvester doesn’t think so https://bit.ly/3c5zIWp

Is back producing as Club Asylum, the article is an old one from 2019 but a good read all the same.

Staying on the Garage vibe, The House & Garage Orchestra are well worth a look if you’re after some music to stream, link here for one of my all-time favourite tracks, MJ Cole “Sincere” - https://bit.ly/2VcP3he

The man himself has just released his first album in over a decade and it’s a very different and ambient sound, more info https://bit.ly/2JWAmcZ

ZINC BACK JAMMIN

Further evidence Garage is back/never went away depending on your stance = DJ Zinc back producing as “Jammin” – he announced a new EP via Facebook aptly titled “Old Habits, PT.1” Link here https://bit.ly/3c4KQTB

My favourite Garage flavoured release so far this year, and one you’ll hear in a Ryan Moore DJ set when the lockdown is over is “Krazy” by Rudimental ft Afronaut Zu – big tune, a future anthem in the making! Link here https://bit.ly/2wuBBwX

EZ FOR PM

Another man still flying the flag for UKG is national treasure DJ EZ, he once again did a 24-hr set and he didn’t disappoint, this a couple of weeks ago end of March 2020.

I can’t believe I am writing this, 24 hours in the mix! I regularly do 6-7 hour sets and that’s plenty for me.

Very different circumstances to his first 24 hr effort back in 2016, back then it was for Cancer Research UK, also in conjunction with Boiler Room.

This year for a different cause: keeping us all entertained while on lockdown!

Link to Part 1 of the set here https://bit.ly/3aYMS7H  you can find the rest on YouTube.

Big respect to the legend that is DJ EZ, what next – knighthood?

DEFECTED INNOVATING WITH VIRTUAL FESTIVALS

While we are on the topic of keeping us entertained while on lockdown, what a job Defected are doing, massive respect.

I live-streamed their first festival 20th March from MOS while working from home and it was fantastic, everybody played great sets, but a personal favourite for me was Monki – well worth a listen if you missed it - https://bit.ly/2RnYGbK

I’ll be tuning in again same day this blog will be published, Good Friday 10th March 2020.

Headlining this time is none other than Calvin Harris under his Love Regenerator moniker, I talked about this in the previous volume of Moore Musings - https://bit.ly/2yQg6Yd

Looking forward to watching him play + Claptone, another personal favourite of mine. Link for more info here - https://bit.ly/3aYk0wr

DJ HEADPHONES - SONIC BOOM

We finish this volume of Moore Musings in appreciation of Sennheiser releasing what must be the biggest “bang for your buck” deal on headphones.

The new affordable version of their HD 25s.

More interesting to me though is the story behind the original version and how they gained notoriety back in the late 80’s – watch the video yourself (it’s under 2 mins) via this link - https://bit.ly/2RsPjHU

That’s it from me peeps, stay safe, stay home, keep listening to music.
